A truly Superior Experience…...
…...awaits you this summer at Amnicon! The moods, power, and breathtaking beauty of Lake Superior and the surrounding countryside will make your Amnicon adventure unforgettable!
Amnicon’'s summer experience is a unique Christian high-adventure tripping program where cooperation and teamwork become a lifestyle and friendships are nurtured in a spirit of respect for one another and care for the earth. Campers develop a new sense of awareness of themselves and build community as they explore Lake Superior’'s Apostle Islands by voyageur canoe, challenge themselves paddling whitewater, or hiking the Sawtooth Mountains.
Situated on the south shore of Lake Superior, Amnicon’'s nearly 700 acres of wilderness allows campers to begin their adventure the moment they arrive. The toughest thing about coming to Amnicon is deciding which trip to take!
From the thrilling white water of the Brule River and the rugged beauty of the Sawtooth Mountains to the majestic vastness of Lake Superior, the wild scenery of the Namekagon River, or the peaceful serenity of the Amnicon base camp, — Amnicon prides itself on being one of very few Lutheran camps providing such diverse and specialized high adventure tripping programs.
Being part of an Amnicon adventure is more than just taking a camping trip. It is an intense 24-hour-a-day way of life where you learn new skills while living together in Christian fellowship. Each Amnicon trip will have one or two guides/counselors who will teach you all the needed safety and wilderness skills and also lead a program for the week. A theme unifies each trip with activities that include stories, games, campfires, discussions, history, prayer and worship. After a week of wrestling with questions, working on the ropes course, enjoying quiet times, and building lasting friendships, you will leave Amnicon refreshed, renewed, and full of new thoughts and skills.
